About the Founder and Managing Director
Engineer Abenet Kebede is the Founder and managing director of AE chemicals trading plc Ethiopia and Able Polymers and Chemicals DMCC Dubai
Abenet Kebede is a cancer survivor and fighter for life. Abenet turned to his wife, Ejigayehu, and his family and friends, to keep him company on his journey to fight cancer. With all the physical and emotional side effects taking their toll, he tried to focus on taking things moment by moment, one day at a time. The support of his wife, family, and friends helped him get through many painful times during the year. But even so, there were days when he felt overwhelmed.
Cancer treatment side effects left Abenet sick and depressed for some time Once he finished treatment, he felt jaded and angry “Others may care, but they don’t really understand what it’s like to battle cancer and how awful that battle can be, even if you end up winning it,” he says, after the doctors declared him cancer-free, Abenet came up with the idea to put his own company AE chemicals Trading Plc “Cancer gave me the confidence to take risks and the belief that I could accomplish anything.”
A firm believer in leading by example, Abenet Kebede starts his own company in 2015, with a keen focus to change the existing industry with key innovative practices.
Abenet now believes that life is good, and he feels that he’s very fortunate. “Every day is just another blessing. I’m learning to become a fly fisherman. I’m still planting trees. I’m looking forward to tomorrow” With more than 20 years of experience, Abenet has a natural aptitude that makes him brilliant in his industry.
His skill, knowledge, and talent, plus that little something extra offers him a deep understanding of his business and the industry in the region. Driven and dedicated, Abenet is full of enthusiasm and energy and injects the same spirit into his team. A leader and mentor to several, he believes in the strength of his team and is a constant force of encouragement, helping them achieve the impossible. His positive attitude and optimistic approach have been the underlying force for his growth and success.

Possessing a strong business and leadership record, Abenet has vast experience in sales and marketing, distribution, logistics, finance, and administration, which has helped him grow AE chemicals trading plc from small capital and one-man office to a bigger company.
Immersed in business from a very young age, Abenet has a keen interest in focused marketing and networking initiatives. For three years, he was working in the Nifas silk Paint factory immediately after his graduation from Addis Ababa University in Chemical.
Raising the bar high with his enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit, Abenet believes that the only way to steer ahead of the competition is by tapping the market’s pulse.
While business is his pulse, family, home-cooked food, health, and recreational activities like cooking food, swimming, going to the gym, and spending his extra time with his family from his other passions in life. Being an ardent animal lover, Dog, Cat, and Hen have been another important part of Abenet’s life for a very long time.
